Overview & Responsibilities

The Executive Director is responsible for the efficient operations and overall management and direction of the day-to-day functions of the community in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Hire, evaluate, coordinate, monitor performance, schedule and supervise team members in accordance with company policy. The Executive Director is also responsible for achieving and maintaining budgeted occupancy; achieving and maintaining budgetary compliance; representing the property to the community and the company; and, creating a supportive and enjoyable lifestyle for the residents.

  • Assume the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the overall management and control of the activities and programs of the property, its residents and financial assets. Delegates administrative authority and responsibility for day-to-day operations to personnel in charge when absent from property. 
  • Familiar with and responsible for the property’s compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as all laws, regulations, and legal requirements governing the operation of the property. Ensures that the all policies governing the property are carried out and closely monitored. 
  • Maintain and update a weekly hot leads or other tool to monitor marketing and sales efforts and to project monthly achievements of targeted census goals. 
  • Recruit, hire, evaluate, coordinate, motivate, monitor performance, schedule and supervise team members in accordance with company policy. Recruitment and selection should focus on qualified candidates with interest in the care and support of seniors and individuals with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. 
  • Develops an administrative plan and procedures to ensure clear definition of lines of responsibility, equitable workloads and adequate supervision of all team members. 
  • Consult with department directors concerning the operation of their departments to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas and/or improvement of service. 
  • Arrange for coverage of department head job duties during their absence either through delegation or personal completion of duties. 
  • Ensure leadership team complies with their continuing education program requirements. 
  • Assure implementation of all operating and financial controls required under company policy. Considers all expenditures within the constraints of budget. Supervises maintenance of financial records, including billing and accounts receivable. 
  • Maintain the physical property and services necessary to support the safety, health and well-being of the residents accepted for move in. Assure that residents accepted are at appropriate level for property licensure. 
  • Ensures provision of services to the residents with appropriate regard for the residents’ physical and mental well-being and needs, including those services identified in the residents’ pre-move in appraisal. 
  • Ensures residents are able to attend activities and programs including community programs and arranging for transportation. 
  • Conduct exit-interviews with residents as needed to determine areas for community improvement to provide a high level of resident satisfaction. 
  • Provide the Home Office team with necessary interpretations of recognized standards of care and supervision. 
  • Represent the property in dealing with outside agencies, including governmental agencies. Participate in property surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies. 
  • Review and develop a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections. 
  • Interpret the property’s policies and procedures to team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc. as necessary. 
  • Develop a strong referral development program by serving as primary liaison with and taking a leadership role in the community regarding aging and dementia issues. 
  • Develops and is responsible for continuous quality improvement at the community. 

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration or related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be able to explain ideas and to communicate complex ideas to a wide audience (team members, residents, family members, governmental agencies, public, etc.), both in writing and verbally. 
  • Ability to show sincere compassion towards cognitively impaired older adults. Demonstrates genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of older people and their families. 
  • Possesses good character and displays personal integrity. 
  • Required to participate in Covid-19 testing as requested by administration, ownership or the State Regulatory Agencies.
  • Required to receive or provide documentation of the Covid-19 Vaccine, excluding religious or medical exemptions.
  • Required to receive the annual Flu vaccine, excluding religious or medical exemptions.
